Therefore, although changing your engine with a quality used engine may need more of your time and efforts, the benefits will compensate for the troubles and costs of purchasing a new car.

Environmentally-Friendly

Purchasing a used engine protects the engine from ending up in a landfill and adding to the waste. Besides, it lowers the amount of energy that would be used to manufacture new engines, as well as, reduce the number of greenhouse gasses and emissions in the atmosphere.

Ford Maintenance Tips

Top 7 Ford Maintenance Tips From FordPro Wreckers

Ford Maintenance Tips

If you’re a proud owner of a wonderful Ford car or any other car brand and you drive it to work daily, short outings on weekends and outback tours on the long weekends, then it’s imperative to maintain and care for your car along with regular servicing. In this blog post, we’ll discuss easy and simple tips for protecting and maintaining your cherished Ford.

7 EASY WAYS TO MAINTAIN YOUR FORD VEHICLE

1. WHAT’S UNDER THE BONNET?

As the thumb rule, it’s vital to have your Ford car serviced at every service interval as recommended by the car maker. If you ignore or overlook this, it can cause excess wear and tear on your used Ford engine and working gear.

UNDER THE BONNET

Inspecting your car’s oil, radiator coolant, brake fluid and fan belt are some quick and simple things that you can do to maintain your Ford in top condition in between your regular car services.

  • Checking your car’s oil is simple, all you have to do is pull the dipstick out of its tube, give it a wipe to get all oil off, then re-dip it back into the tube and pull it out again. You’ll find markings on the bottom of it to indicate your oil level. Change the engine oil regularly to increase your car’s performance.
  • Checking your car’s coolant is quite easy as well, you’ll locate your coolant reservoir on the driver’s side of your car’s engine bay and if you look at the side of the coolant reservoir you’ll find the level indicator.
  • Brake fluid is the same process to check as the coolant, you’ll find your master cylinder that holds the brake fluid right up near the front windscreen on the drivers’ side.
  • Your car’s fan belt is at the front of the engine and before checking it ensure your car’s engine is switched off. Simply looking at the belt and inspecting for cracks is the way to check the belt. If you have got cracks in your car’s belt, then it’s time to change it.

2. THE RIGHT TYRE PRESSURE IS IMPERATIVE FOR OPTIMAL CAR HANDLING

TYRE PRESSURE

Your car’s tyres are vital to keeping you on the road ensuring it’s safe for you to drive. The right tyre pressure is a key element in how you’re able to handle your car. You’ll find how much pressure to put into your car’s tyre on the side of the tyres. Incorrect tyre pressure can cause a car to become unstable at speed and will also cause excessive tyre wear. Inflate the tyres regularly for the right air pressure and traction; always fill the air at a power station to keep the tyres inflated. Make sure that your car’s tyres have enough tread on them as the low tread is not only dangerous but also illegal.

3. KEEPING YOUR FORD CAR PRISTINE & SHINING

CAR PRISTINE & SHINING

The appearance of your Ford car is something that everyone looks at. Thus, keeping your vehicle’s paintwork in pristine condition is always a good thing. Simple ways to keep your paint, nice and shiny and not dull is to have your car parked out of the sunlight as much as is possible. We all know of our flying friends leaving little presents on our cars, get it off as soon as possible, as it can damage your vehicle’s paintwork. A good wash for your car never hurt either, but make sure you have a clean sponge otherwise it could scratch your car.

4. DRIVE COMFORTABLY & SMOOTHLY

DRIVE COMFORTABLY & SMOOTHLY

Drive with care – accelerate and use brakes with great caution. Your driving will have a great impact on the condition of your car and will decide how long it will last. Try to drive smoothly and avoid applying the brakes frequently where it’s not needed.

7. PARK IN THE SHADE

Here are the tips that will help you to make the right selection for your Ford car engine replacement:

GET YOUR HANDS ON THE RIGHT ENGINE FOR YOUR FORD CAR

Prior to commencing your search for your car’s engine, make sure you to gather details including:

  • Vehicle’s VIN – A 17 character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) will be displayed on the registration certificate. Alternatively, it can also be found on the vehicle itself, either on the compliance plate positioned in the engine bay or on one of the doorposts or on the windshield situated on the passenger side.
  • Manufacturing date
  • The engine’s code

These details will help in ensuring a refurbished engine is compatible with your car.

CHOOSE THE FORD ENGINE THAT HAS RUN THE LOWEST MILEAGE

When you choose the engine with the lowest possible mileage, it will have minimal wear and is likely to endure the life of your vehicle.

FIND OUT THE CAR’S HISTORY IN WHICH THE ENGINE WAS USED EARLIER

Ford Ranger Diesel Engine

Ford Ranger Diesel Engine and Transmission

Many people aren’t sure what the advantage is of owning a diesel powered car and some don’t buy a car just because they are diesel. The Ford Ranger Diesel is one of the most economical engines in its class and has excellent fuel economy, especially out on the open road. The diesel powered engine in the Ranger offers plenty of power, with the help from the turbo while still being economical. Diesel powered engines also give a lot of torque, which is perfect for towing. The Ranger Diesel has over 3 tonne of towing power and can pull it with ease, thanks to how much torque the diesel engine provides. With all the new technology in the modern day diesel engine that is offered in the Ford Ranger, everything burns cleaner and the engine blows far less soot then expected from a Diesel. Important things to keep your engine going in your Ranger is regular servicing of the engine and maintaining the cooling system in it too. But it is important to know what you’re doing, especially with the later model PX Ford Rangers as you can cause serious issues with the engine if you do not correctly fill the oil back up immediately as if it drains completely it causes an air lock in the oil pump and it will not pump oil through your engine upon start up and will cause engine failure. If you are unsure with what you’re doing with servicing your diesel Ranger, take it to your local Ford dealership, or bring it past here at FordPro Wreckers for a service. It is also important to keep an eye on your turbo feed lines so that they do not block up as that will starve your turbo of oil and cause it to fail and wear the bearing out.

Keeping your Automatic or Manual gearbox is very important too in your Ranger. Your transmission requires servicing and maintenance about every 50,000km. But it is important to make sure that you use the correct oil that Ford recommends to keep the transmission running smoothly. If you do not use the correct oil your gearbox may fail all together. They run a special grade oil in the gearboxes so you have to keep this oil in them as they will not run without that specific oil in them.

So if you are looking for power, fuel economy towing capability and reliability, buy yourself a Diesel Ford Ranger and you wont be disappointed. Ford all your Ford Ranger parts give us a call on 02 9757 1811

SIGNS THAT YOUR TURBO MAY BE WEARING

The turbo on your engine is a vital part to how well your car performs. When the turbo is wearing, or has been starved of oil it can cause a significant decrease in power. Signs that you may have a worn or damaged turbo is hearing a grinding sound when coming onto boost or when you turn your car off. This could mean that the bearing in the turbo is worn out and is causing shaft play, which is then leading to the blades of the turbo to hit the side of the turbo housing and cause damage to the blades. Eventually if this is not attended to the turbo can completely go and you will have next to no power and your car may also start blowing a fair amount of smoke. The oil feed line and filter into your turbo is always something good to check to maintain your turbo as if you still have the standard ones on there they can easily get blocked and not allow any oil through, starving the turbo and causing the bearing to go. A good way to prevent that is an aftermarket oil feed line with an external filter on it that is easy to access, change and replace if required.

Causes of Rattling Noise in 5.4L Boss Engine

The 5.4L Boss engine that comes in the BA BF and FG models can often be heard with having a rattle. This could be one of two things, and it is important to have a careful listen to the engine when purchasing a vehicle fitted with one of these engines in it.tape edgesIt is very common for the timing chain guides to wear in the early models of the 5.4L Boss V8 engine. This can cause a rattling sound, most commonly heard when the engine is cold coming from the front of the engine. In order to eliminate this rattle, the timing chain as well as the guides will have to be replaced, which isn’t a small job due to the whole front of the engine having to be pulled apart.

Another issue that causes a rattle is the starter motor not disengaging once the vehicle has started. That will cause excessive wear on the starter and also the ring gear. This is a much easier job to fix as it is only the starter motor that will need replacing if it isn’t left for too long.

These are both things to listen out for when purchasing a vehicle fitted with the 5.4L boss engine, especially the earlier ones. We can supply and fit replacement boss engines or starter motors if you do experience any of the above issues with your car.

Are you one of the proud owners of a Ford car, but now you’re looking for replacing the engine of your Ford as you have used your car for many years! At FordPro Wreckers, we have a huge range of Ford engines including 5.4L Boss engine for the various Ford models.

ENGINE MAINTANANCE GUIDANCE

Maintaining the engine in your car is a very important part of looking after your car. Without regular maintenance and servicing, your engine will eventually fail and end up costing you a lot of money.

Here are a few easy things to check on your engine that will help you keep an eye on all the levels and fluid condition.

Your engine oil dipstick is the way to check how much oil you have in your engine. You can usually engine_dipstickfind your engine oil dipstick on the side of your engine, in most Fords the handle of it will be yellow making it easy to find. Upon pulling it out you will need to wipe away all oil off the dipstick and then re dip it in. Upon removal of the dipstick the second time you will be able to look at the bottom of it and read your engine oil level. If it is on the “Add” indicator add some oil to your engine, or if you do not know how much to add in go see your local mechanic.

raditor_overflow_bottleYour coolant level can be found by looking on the side of the radiator overflow bottle. If the level is down to “Min” or below min, add some coolant or water in. Note: Do not open radiator overflow bottle cap when the engine is hot or has been recently run. There will be a build up of pressure in the cooling system and if opened it will cause boiling hot water to shoot out potentially harming yourself or anyone nearby.

Your brake fluid level can be check by looking on the side of the brake_master_cylinderbrake master cylinder and looking at the level indicator. Once again if it is low you can top the fluid levels up, but be sure to put the correct brake fluid in. If there is no fluid at all in the reservoir do not drive your car as air would have been sucked into the braking system causing your brakes not to work correctly. Call a tow truck to get your car towed to your mechanic.

If you notice any leaks from any part of your car, whether it be any types of oil or coolant. Take your car to a mechanic as soon as possible to get the leak repaired and the fluid levels topped up.

Following these quick easy steps will help you to maintain the engine and fluid levels of your car, helping prevent any unnecessary damage that may occur from fluid levels being too low. If you are looking any car parts, Check out http://www.fordprowreckers.com.au
